Preparing for Classic Coat

General necessities for successful applications of Classic Coat include the following processes:

• Always clean the vinyl or leather surface first. We suggest the matching product SEM Soap, applied with a gray scuff pad. Recessed and textured areas usually require unique attention. Rinse the soap off with a clean, moist, and lint-free towel. Allow the substrate to dry.
• Following the cleaning with SEM Soap, prep the surface by applying SEM Vinyl Prep for vinyl, or SEM Plastic and Leather Prep for leather. You can also use SEM XXX Universal Surface Cleaner for either vinyl or leather substrates. Make certain that the substrate is absolutely clean. Repeat the cleaning as necessary to ensure a solid bond of Classic Coat.
• For leather surfaces only, once the upholstery is dry after cleaning, scuff the leather with a clean gray scuff pad or 400-600 grit sandpaper. After scuffing, clean the leather surfaces again with SEM Plastic and Leather Prep or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner.
• Classic Coat can be kept for 3 years if shelved in a dry, cool place with adequate ventilation. Avoid flames, sparks, and heat wherever you apply and keep Classic Coat.
