Prepping for Classic Coat

General conditions for well-done applications of Classic Coat include the following techniques:

• Always clean the leather or vinyl substrate first. We recommend the corresponding product SEM Soap, applied with a gray scuff pad. Textured and recessed areas usually require specialized attention. Rinse the soap off with a clean moist and lint-free towel. Allow the substrate to dry.
• Follow up the cleaning with SEM Soap by applying SEM Vinyl Prep for vinyl, or SEM Plastic and Leather Prep for leather. You can also use SEM XXX Universal Surface Cleaner for either leather or vinyl substrates. Make sure that the surface is completely clean. Repeat the cleaning as necessary to ensure a solid adhesion of Classic Coat.
• For leather substrates only, once the upholstery is dry after cleaning, scuff the leather with a clean gray scuff pad or 400-600 grit sandpaper. After scuffing, clean the leather surfaces again with SEM Plastic and Leather Prep or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner.
• Classic Coat can be kept for 3 years if kept in a dry, cool location with adequate ventilation. Avoid heat, sparks, and flames wherever you use and store Classic Coat.
