Important Considerations for Applying Aerosol Color Coat in Shale

• Aerosol Color Coat is not a dye and shouldn’t be used for distinctly different color changes.
• Aerosol Color Coat is quick drying but should not be subject to heavy use or abrasion for 24 hours after application.
• Aerosol Color Coat is ready to spray, right out from the can.
• Vinyls with excess amounts of plasticizers can require SEM Tac Free for a smooth finish.

How to Prepare for Aerosol Color Coat in Shale

• For vinyl and plastic, always apply SEM Soap to clean the substrate using a grey scrubber.
• For velour and carpet, clean the substrate with an appropriate upholstery or carpet cleaner.
• Clean vinyl again with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Vinyl Prep.
• Clean plastic once more with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Plastic & Leather Prep.
• Clean velour and carpet again with Plastic and Leather Prep.
• To guarantee adhesion on PVC and ABS plastics, SEM provides Sand Free Adhesion Promoter. For TPO, PP, EPDM and other thermoplastics, use XXX Adhesion Promoter or Plastic Adhesion Promoter.
