Considerations for Using Color Coat in Yellow Oxide

• Because Color Coat is a coating, as its name suggests, and not a dye, it is not recommended for drastic color changes.
• Color Coat dries quickly but shouldn’t be subjected to or heavy use until 24 hours after application.
• There is no need for thinning Color Coat. It is made ready for spraying.
• Vinyls can have excess amounts of plasticizers. If so, for a smooth finish they require SEM Tac Free.
• Color Coat Flattener may be used with any and all Color Coat intermix formulas to ensure a close match with the original color.

Prepping Substrates for Use of Color Coat in Yellow Oxide

• For vinyl and plastic, always apply SEM Soap to clean the surface with a grey scrubber.
• For velour and carpet, clean the surface using an appropriate upholstery or carpet cleanser.
• Clean vinyl again with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Vinyl Prep.
• Clean plastic again with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Plastic & Leather Prep.
• Clean carpet and velour again with Plastic and Leather Prep.
• To promote adhesion on ABS or PVC plastics, SEM provides Sand Free Adhesion Promoter. For TPO, EPDM, PP and other thermoplastics, use XXX Adhesion Promoter or Plastic Adhesion Promoter.
• Always follow the manufacturer’s directions for applying each of these products to guarantee professional results.
