Considerations for Applying Color Coat in Yellow Oxide

• Color Coat is a coating, as its name suggests, and not a dye, so is not recommended for drastic color changes.
• Color Coat dries quickly but should not be subjected to or heavy use until 24 hours after application.
• There is no requirement for thinning Color Coat. It is made prepped to spray.
• Vinyls can have excess amounts of plasticizers. If so, for a smooth finish they require SEM Tac Free.
• Color Coat Flattener may be applied with all Color Coat intermix formulas to guarantee a closer match with the original color.

Preparing Substrates for Use with Color Coat in Yellow Oxide

• For plastic and vinyl, always use SEM Soap to clean the surface using a grey scruff pad.
• For carpet and velour, clean the substrate by using an appropriate carpet or upholstery cleanser.
• Clean vinyl once more with Vinyl Prep or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner.
• Clean plastic once more with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Plastic & Leather Prep.
• Clean velour and carpet once more with Plastic and Leather Prep.
• To promote adhesion on ABS or PVC plastics, SEM offers Sand Free Adhesion Promoter. For TPO, PP, EPDM and other thermoplastics, use XXX Adhesion Promoter or Plastic Adhesion Promoter.
• Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for applying each of these products to ensure the best possible results.
