Color Coat™ is a fade resistant, versatile, durable coating that restores or changes the color of most all vinyl, carpet, velour, and plastic. Color Coat Tinting White (SEM SKU 15541) is sold in two different can types: a one quart cone top, and a one gallon can. Important Facts About Color Coat in Tinting White
- Color Coat is a coating as its name suggests, and not a dye, so it is not recommended for drastic color changes.
- Color Coat dries quickly, but should not be subjected to abrasion or heavy use until twenty-four hours after application.
- There is no need for thinning Color Coat; it is made prepped for spraying.
- Vinyls can have large amounts of plasticizers. If your vinyl does, then we recommend SEM Tac Free for a smooth surface.
- Color Coat Flattener can be used with all Color Coat intermix formulas to guarantee a closer match with the original color.
Preparing Surfaces for Use of Color Coat in Tinting White
- For vinyl and plastic, always use SEM Soap to clean the substrate using a grey scruff pad.
- For carpet and velour, clean the substrate by using an appropriate upholstery or carpet cleaner.
- Clean vinyl once more with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Vinyl Prep.
- Clean plastic once more with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Plastic & Leather Prep.
- Clean velour and carpet again with Plastic and Leather Prep.
- To guarantee adhesion on PVC or ABS plastics, SEM offers Sand Free Adhesion Promoter. For TPO, PP, EPDM and other thermoplastics, use Plastic Adhesion Promoter or XXX Adhesion Promoter.
- Always follow the instructions for applying each of these products to guarantee professional results.
