Color Coat™ in Silver Metallic
Color Coat™ is a UV resistant, mixable, long lasting coating to restore or change the color of majority of carpet, velour, plastic, and vinyl. Color Coat Silver Metallic comes in 4 different types of cans: 8 oz cone top, 16 oz cone top, 1 quart cone top, and one gallon. Color Coat is OEM recommended and offered with a variety of colors, three different clear coats and thousands of OEM mixing formulas. Considerations for Applying Color Coat in Silver Metallic
- Even though Color Coat is a coating, as its name suggests, and not a dye, it is not recommended for drastic color changes.
- Color Coat dries quickly but shouldn’t be subject to scraping or heavy use until 24 hours after applying.
- There is no necessity to thin Color Coat. It is made ready to apply.
- Vinyls can have large amounts of plasticizers. If so, for a smooth finish they require SEM Tac Free.
- Color Coat Flattener can be used with any and all Color Coat intermix formulas to ensure a close match with the original color.
Preparing Surfaces for Application with Color Coat in Silver Metallic
- For vinyl and plastic, always apply SEM Soap to clean the substrate using a grey scrubber.
- For carpet and velour, clean the surface with an appropriate carpet or upholstery cleanser
- Clean vinyl once more with Vinyl Prep or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner.
- Clean plastic once more with Plastic & Leather Prep or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner.
- Clean velour and carpet once more with Plastic and Leather Prep.
- To encourage adhesion on ABS or PVC plastics, SEM provides Sand Free Adhesion Promoter. For EPDM, PP, TPO and other thermoplastics, use XXX Adhesion Promoter or Plastic Adhesion Promoter.
