Color Coat™ is a fade resistant, mixable, permanent coating that renews or changes the color of most all velour, plastic, carpet, and vinyl. Color Coat Silver Metallic is shipped in 4 different types of cans: one gallon or 8 oz, 16 oz or 1 pint cone top. Color Coat is OEM recommended and offered with a variety of colors, 3 different clear coats and thousands of OEM mixing formulas. Refinish auto interiors and even motorcycle seats using Color Coat. Important Facts About Color Coat in Silver Metallic
- Even though Color Coat is a coating, as its name suggests, and not a dye, it is not recommended for distinctly different color changes.
- Color Coat dries quickly but should not be subject to abrasion or heavy use until 24 hours after application.
- There is no requirement for thinning Color Coat. It is made ready to apply.
- Vinyls can have high amounts of plasticizers. If so, for a smooth surface they need SEM Tac Free.
- Color Coat Flattener may be applied with all Color Coat intermix formulas to guarantee a closer match with the original color.
How to Prepare for Color Coat in Silver Metallic
- For plastic and vinyl, always use SEM Soap to clean the surface using a grey scruff pad.
- For carpet and velour, clean the surface using an appropriate upholstery or carpet cleanser
- Clean vinyl once more with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Vinyl Prep.
- Clean plastic once more with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Plastic & Leather Prep.
- Clean velour and carpet once more with Plastic and Leather Prep.
- To encourage adhesion on ABS or PVC plastics, SEM produces Sand Free Adhesion Promoter. For EPDM, TPO, PP and other thermoplastics, use XXX Adhesion Promoter or Plastic Adhesion Promoter.
