Important Facts About Color Coat in Red Oxide

• Because Color Coat is a coating, as its name suggests, and not a dye, it is not recommended for significantly different color changes.
• Color Coat dries quickly but shouldn’t be subjected to abrasion or heavy use until twenty-four hours after application.
• There is no need for thinning Color Coat. It is made prepped to spray.
• Vinyls can have excess amounts of plasticizers. If so, for a smooth surface they need SEM Tac Free.
• Color Coat Flattener can be applied with all Color Coat intermix formulas to ensure a closer match with the original color.

Prepping Substrates for Use with Color Coat in Red Oxide

• For plastic and vinyl, always apply SEM Soap to clean the substrate using a grey scruff pad.
• For velour and carpet, clean the substrate with an appropriate carpet or upholstery cleaner.
• Clean vinyl again with Vinyl Prep or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner.
• Clean plastic again with XXX Universal Surface Cleaner or Plastic & Leather Prep.
• Clean velour and carpet again with Plastic and Leather Prep.
• To encourage adhesion on ABS or PVC plastics, SEM offers Sand Free Adhesion Promoter. For EPDM, TPO, PP and other thermoplastics, use XXX Adhesion Promoter or Plastic Adhesion Promoter.
