Considerations for Applying Color Coat in Red Oxide

• Even though Color Coat is a coating, as its name suggests, and not a dye, it is not recommended for distinctly different color changes.
• Color Coat dries quickly but should not be subject to abrasion or heavy use until 24 hours after application.
• There is no necessity to thin Color Coat. It is made prepped to apply.
• Vinyls can have high amounts of plasticizers. If so, for a smooth finish they require SEM Tac Free.
• Color Coat Flattener may be used with any Color Coat intermix formulas to ensure a close match with the OEM color.

How to Prep for Color Coat in Red Oxide

• To prep for using Color Coat, you will require additional SEM cleansers and adhesion promoters depending on the substrate.
• For cleaning plastic and vinyl, use SEM Soap and Vinyl Prep or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner.
• For cleaning velour and carpet, apply an appropriate carpet or upholstery cleanser and SEM Plastic and Leather Prep.
• For plastics, first identify the kind of plastic. With ABS and PVC plastics apply SEM Sand Free Adhesion promoter. For EPDM, PP, TPO and other thermoplastics, use Plastic Adhesion Promoter or XXX Adhesion Promoter.
• Follow manufacturer’s directions exactly to ensure professional results.
